Is it good to download, and install HDVid codec for our internet browsers?

Alert "www.movie2k.to" Alert "www.movie4k.to"  Alert "primewire" website users. You are going to face a new problem.
Are you watching movies online?. are you watching pirated movies from some websites like "www.movie2k.to" ? I am not going to do any discussion regarding that matter. There is a new problem come to the internet. Some time we have to suspect that as problem in it. Have you seen a message like shown in the following picture?

"Firefox Plug-in HD Video Player is missing" -FAKE
"Google Chrome Plug-in HD Video Player is missing" -FAKE
"Internet Explorer Plug-in HD Video Player is missing" -FAKE

That message request you to download an unknown plugin named as "HD Video Player" in the format of plug in required message of your browser. you will feel it like a true message but it is not like that. It is fake advertisement to download an unknown plugin.

"http://www.hd-plugin.com/download/download.php" website/download is suspected as a fake program or virus integrated program by infortecpro.blogspot.com

First of all, ask your self. why do you need "HDVid Codec" plugin to watch CAM-RIP/TC-RIP movies? Our browser has "Adobe Flash" installed, then why we need to install additional plugin to watch it? You can't get HD quality video for CAM-RIP/TC-RIP type online movies with the help of this plugin. Because, we can see, what they have uploaded on their website only. If they have uploaded low quality video then we can maximum watch only the low quality video not more than that.

Another fact is we can browse "http://www.hd-plugin.com/download/download.php" this website from our browser but when we try to browse "www.hd-plugin.com" it is showing error message like the following message.
That means, this website also fake. They are trying to get into our computer to do some unwanted works. Like, to monitor what we are watching. Download also starts automatically, so if you have downloaded it then remove the downloaded file from your computer. don't install HDVid Codec plug-in to watch movies.

    1. Have you uninstalled it?

      >How do I remove/uninstall HDVidCodec HD video plugin from my computer?
you can uninstall HDVidCodec HD video plugin using the Add/Remove Programs control panel.

and make sure, it is removed from your browser (Add-ons,Extension, Plug-in). If not, manually remove it

Note: but don't try to restart your computer. if you have uninstalled it now.

Note: If you have uninstalled it already, then make sure you didn't see any changes in your start menu or system, like "start menu is become blank page - Nothing there".

if you do, then you to go to the "option 2" first, and then "option 3". but if you don't see any changes then you don't need to go for "option 2". "option 3" is enough.

Go to our previous post related to solving this kind of problems using the following link.[After reading my reply fully]
Solutions for this kind of problems

and try Option 2 or Option 3, posted there.

Try the Option 3 first, it is about installing the antivirus program of Microsoft "Microsoft Security Essential", and updating the Virus Definition of it, and then doing full scan with it. If you found the infection then you can remove/repair with it.[You are SAFE].

If you didn't find the infection using that then [You are SAFE] but if you wish, you can go to Option 2.

Option 2 is about, recovering the system with recently created restore point. It is one of the good option.

    1. It is a fake plugin. But it is not that much harmful.
Try to uninstall it, using the same way you uninstall other software.
In Windows OS, we have Control panel to uninstall the software.
Clear the History, Cache of your internet browser.
Remove/delete the installed plugin/extension/adds-on from your internet browser.
Then, do a full system scan with your installed antivirus program.

  6. Ok, but how do I stop the little messages coming in, telling me I have to download it? It's annoying..

    1. You can't permanently stop them but, you can remove that message with a plugin:

      1.Install Ads blocker plug-ins/extension/adds-on

2.Right click on the little message

3.Select the 'block' option of the installed ads blocking plugin.

If you did it then that message will not appear again

I hope you have installed "AdsBlock - Plus".

  9. Hello, what if i downloaded the file, clicked the file, and it appeared on my desktop? my antivirus said it was able to block it and i was able to uninstall it after. could this virus still be anywhere in my computer or am i safe?

    ReplyDelete

    1. I assume that your have a good antivirus program.

It won't be there in your computer any more.

If you are able to uninstall that program, and your installed antivirus program also able block it then no problem.

If your antivirus program can block it then you are safe.

    2. There are some antivirus programs available on the market/internet which stops the execution of suspicious programs at the starting stage(When you clicked the file)
      e.g: Avast

  12. hi, there seems to be a problem. I clicked the 'x' button to ignore the hdvid codec spam, but then i couldn't click on play. why is that?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think they are running some script with their advertisements to disable the play button, if you don't click the ads. Don't try to click the 'X' button of advertisements which are not placed near the player.

Try to download and install the advertisement blocking plugin/extension for your browser to watch movies without any ads.

    1. Restore your computer with Recent restore point (like One week before).

Free download and install windows security essential(download link). Then update its virus database. Then do a full scan.

at the same time, use CCleaner to clean the garbage registry files, clean the registry damage and repair it

Free download CCleaner for Windows platform

Then do a registry scan with it, and Fix all the registry problems.

    1. Read the Next Comment, you might get some help/solution from it.

If it is working fine then, just do a full scan with your installed antivirus program. If it says "Clear" then No problem.

at the same time use "CCleaner" (You can get the download link from next comment's reply) to remove the garbage registry files.

  15. same guy here that just posted about the mac install problem. i did delete my browser history like i though you said to someone else and i also went to the "all files" section of my macbook and typed in HD and a bunch of the HD Vid codec things came up and i moved everything related to the trash. does this solve the problem? thanks for your time

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You moved everything to trash, is that means, you permanently deleted the identified "HD Vid codec" or Are you just keeping them inside the trash folder/recycle bin.

If you permanently deleted the identified "HD Vid codec" files from your computer then, i hope, your computer is free from that plugin.

But to make it sure, Download this software, and install it. Then run the registry scan, and fix all the problems.

Free download CCleaner for Mac OS X It is also available for windows platform too.

You can go through some Youtube videos to learn how to use CCleaner software.

      After that,
Update your antivirus program's virus definition/database, and do a full system scan. If it says "Clear" then No problem :)

  16. These fake codecs are now showing up as base64 encoded URI's. You can at least partially block them using Adblock's Element Hiding Helper, a separate download from ABP. I have not figured out how to completely block them yet, but I DO know that in Firefox, there is a setting that needs to be edited to properly block data streams. I won't type a whole lot about it here because I don't want readers to do something they will regret, but maybe the blog author can help us with this further. The setting is extensions.adblockplus.whitelistschemes, found in the firefox config page. By default, data is whitelisted here. That whitelist entry needs to be removed before other data-stream-blocking will work properly.

    1. Good Information. Would you mind if i ask you to, send me the guidance,if you have the steps to properly block data streams via email. You can find out my email address from "Contact Me" page. I will put your name and post it in this blog.

but if we make mistakes in editing the config files, some time our browser or that plugin won't work properly. So it is good to use some plug in called "Element Hiding Helper" to block or hide the unwanted elements of the websites, Which are not blocked by ads blocking plugins.

      Ref:
Why some ads are not removed by adblocker

  17. Install Element Hiding Helper to hide/block the CSS made Ads (Which are note automatically blocked by Ads blocking plugins.

Go to this link to know more about it:

  18. Never download this, you do not need it to watch movies online. it is spam used to intrude you PC files. To remove it click on tools/extensions, and click the trashcan next to HDvid Codec. Also you going to need to uninstall the program from you PC, to do so click Programs/Control Panel/Programs "Uninstall a Program"/Scroll to HDvid Codec/Right click and uninstall. You'll be surprised how many unwanted programs you'll fine, like tool-bars and ect. Every time you download an install a program from an online source, it asks if you want to install a tool-bar. Even if you click No, sometimes it will install anyways. Be sure always to check Programs "Uninstall Program Browser" after each online file installation.

  19. Oh my, I feel so stupid now. I downloaded the file, unfortunately. But after that, I tried to watch movies and I got to a page that needed my credit card and ZIP before I was licenced to watch the movie. Is this a 'side-effect' from installing the file?
Then I got really suspicious. I uninstalled the file HDVidCodec and I let CC cleaner do its work, now Avira is busy cleaning my computer and I removed the ad from my browser (Chrome). I hope my computer is clean now?
So have I done everything to make my computer safe again?

Thanks for the help! Now I see what a fool I've been.
(Sorry if it's difficult to understand)

    1. "I tried to watch movies and I got to a page that needed my credit card and ZIP before I was licenced to watch the movie. Is this a 'side-effect' from installing the file?"// No, it is not a side-effect of what you did!!. It is another trap. Please inform your credit card provider. Don't pay any money to them.

Yes, Your computer is Safe and Clean now.

Search and gather more information about a plugin before install it on your computer. It is good habit to follow.

Normally, Adobe Flash player is enough to watch online movies.

Another Fact, you can't get HD version of a Movie from that movie's Cam-rip version, by installing a specific plugin or extension.
